Vianden

For many of us, summer is not only going away - we also host friends and family and want to show them our adopted home. Along with Saarburg in Germany (where else can you find a waterfall in the middle of the town?), one favourite has always been Vianden. Until last week, though, I had never gone into the castle. For those who (as in my case) first saw the castle buried in scaffolding for major rebuilding in the 1980s and 1990s, I can but recommend a visit inside. There are some very attractive rooms and the renovation has been very well done indeed.
